X-Factored Takes over Gqeberha!

On October 4th and 5th, 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to host the Youth in Business Symposium in Gqeberha, thanks to the generous support of Billiobreeeze. This event aimed to inspire young people in schools and universities to embrace entrepreneurship as a viable alternative to traditional employment.

Our goal was to empower the next generation of leaders and innovators, encouraging them to think creatively and take charge of their futures. The symposium served as a platform for networking, learning, and igniting the entrepreneurial spirit among our youth.

On the first day of the Youth in Business Symposium, we at X-Factored Youth focused on laying a strong foundation for our discussions on entrepreneurship. We recognized that before diving into business concepts, it was essential to understand the participants and their perspectives on identity.

We engaged in thought-provoking discussions about self-perception and the external identities imposed by society, particularly within marginalized communities. This exploration not only fostered a deeper understanding of ourselves but also set the stage for how we can navigate the world of entrepreneurship authentically.

Once we redefined our identities, we began to see ourselves as young and aspiring entrepreneurs. This fresh perspective allowed us to evaluate our business ideas using the Business Model Canvas, a powerful tool for mapping out our entrepreneurial visions.

Day 2 featured an exciting pitch competition sponsored by Billiobreeze. Participants had the chance to present their business ideas, with the winner receiving a prize of R5000 to invest in their venture. This funding is designed to enhance their value chain and ensure they provide the best possible service to their clients and customers. The competition not only showcased innovative ideas but also emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial growth and community support.
